Fifth generation Oklahoma, author Kaci Cronkhite knew better than to buy a wooden boat. She'd sailed around the world working on other people's boats for 8 years and been the director of the largest Wooden Boat Festival in America for six years by the time the opening chapter's email arrived with a "boat for sale". She knew better! But, smitten by the beautiful curves of this little wooden boat built in 1936, she did anyway.
What transpired over the next 7 years has been called a love story, a captivating mystery, and a personal quest. By the end, Kaci's determined sleuthing restored nearly 70 years of history, reconnecting generations of prior owners in three countries - America, Canada, and Denmark.
Kaci splits her time between a home in the canyons of Roman Nose State Park (adjacent to the historic Cronkhite Ranch where she grew up) and with her boat, PAX in Port Townsend, Washington. This is her only scheduled appearance in Stillwater.
Finding PAX is a candidate for Oklahoma Book of the Year in non-fiction category.
